The remains of the day
As another year comes to a close, I wish you all a very happy New Year ahead. This photo of Cow Strand, Sherkin Island, was taken on the same day as Winter Light but during late afternoon when the rain clouds were gathering. I like the pool of light at the water’s edge and the overall feeling of damp, mossy greenness. Just in case you are wondering about the two diamond shapes in the background, it is a marker for the electrical cabling between Sherkin Island and Cape Clear Island, seen here in the distance, haloed by light.
WS ! are you working very hard somewhere on the mainland …come back …
Hi Poppytump, Thank you for noticing my absence. The hard drive on my laptop crashed five days ago and can’t be fixed. All of the information is irretrievable. I am gutted. We backed up a few months ago but I’ve lost photos and emails and some documents. Work stuff too and I have a meeting in London tomorrow. I know that there are far worse losses to bear so I’m getting over it and it may be a first post once I get sorted.
EEEK that’s devastating . yes I know there are worst things but that apart… your *photos* oh no .
Hope you can wing it at your meeting in London 😉 .
And until you are up and running
I shall wait patiently and offer one up to St Jude with expectations of a result for the technology glitch 😀
There’s something magical about winter’s light. Lovely.
Thank you and ‘may hope smile on your threshold’ for 2013.

Love both pictures .
WildSherkinIsland . Looking so Beautiful .
There’s something so clear and pale about winter light. It must be even lovelier by the sea. I miss the northern hemisphere and its seasons…sigh.
I coudn’t see an ‘About’ page on your blog….where are you based?
I know I’ve been lazy about that :). I’m currently based in Bombay but lived in Switzerland for the better part of my life.
