Lingering longer
I am spending a few days on my own here on Sherkin Island – a rare treat for me. I hope you don’t mind the recent flurry of posts but by Monday I will be back to reality. The children will be back from their adventures and work will take over my life again. A significant review meeting in the UK looms mid-week so, by then, the memories of these quiet (if not a little lonely) days and nights on Sherkin will be a memory. It has been lovely to do what I want, when I want. I packed my pastels and crochet hooks but do you know what, I have mostly just walked, got on top of gardening, cleaned, painted (indoors and out) and blogged. How bad! Tomorrow promises to be a beautiful day. I hope so because the island is preparing for a big wedding. If I am feeling brave, I will go along to the church to see the bride. But for now, goodnight all.
Beautiful! Glad you got some well deserved time to yourself 🙂
Thanks Rachel, it all seems like a dream now… 🙂
Goodnight indeed 🙂
I like being alone, although do get too much of it sometimes. Hope you enjoyed.
Thank you – yes, I loved it!
Lovely Post. I hope you had a great time and got to be as creative as you liked 🙂
It’s amazing how many other things needed doing…like painting the walls etc! But I have to say that I loved having the head space. I’m sitting in a hotel bedroom now in the UK, preparing for a review meeting in the morn and those that Sherkin lingering feeling has long gone!! P
It;s no bad thing to get some room know and then 🙂
Very best wishes with your meeting Patsy, hope all goes well 🙂
Being alone (for a short time!) can be a very nice thing, a sense of freedom and peace, and then you appreciate the busy-ness of family and work life again!
I’m loving it! Just wish I had another week… P
P, it sounds like you are having a truly blissful time ! And the weather Gods have blessed your escape ! Enjoyed your flurry of posts & hope you enjoy your final hours before normality bites & you have to come back to us !!! Go to that wedding, an unexpected guest in the church is good luck & give your neighbours a hug & hello from me ! X
Thanks Siubhan. Great to hear from you! Yes, I’m going to walk over to the church in the next half an hour. It’s a stunning day. I will be the scruffy, unexpected guest lurking in the doorway. Now why on earth didn’t I pack a pretty dress?! Hope to see you at one of your craft events soon..and feature it here?! Px
Carry on lingering while you can, good for the soul. MM
Hi MM, wish I could give up the day job and just stay on….
Enjoy the quiet island life while you can, wildsherkin!
Great to see you back! I know, time is going far too quickly. Before I know it I’ll be handed mountains of laundry and the only words ringing in my ears will be ‘MUM, where’s my….! 🙂
Thanks, wildsherkin! 🙂
A flurry of posts is great. I like being able to share your island experience as we keep having road blocks getting to our island home. Enjoy your getaway!
Hi Deb, I hope you have arrived safely by now! Looking forward to catching up with your island. Patsy
Enjoy the warm weekend and peace and quiet.
Thanks Cath !
Lovely to hear you so intune with Sherkin Patsy . I know you might be a tad alone but it will give you a really nice creative thinking and doing time …. enjoy xx
Earlier this evening, I waved goodbye to a close neighbour who is leaving the island to live on the mainland. She is an art student who was renting the house next door. I helped to load her things onto a friend’s fishing trawler and watched as she disappeared from view, with all of her worldly goods (and her darling dog) on the boat. I felt really honoured to be here for her as we miss out on so many of these island moments – and I’m not too sad as she is coming back over at the weekend! It would be lovely if she agrees to appear on the blog. I’ll see… Px
