Sea fog
After endless days of blue skies and sunshine we woke yesterday morning to a murky world! A heavy sea fog had descended yet it was still very warm and muggy. An islander assured us that it would ‘burn off’ by 4pm, and he wasn’t far wrong. When we left the island on the 4.15pm ferry, it was still wrapping the landscape in tones of grey but by 5pm, the sun had broken through, adding a lovely sparkle to the waters of Roaring Water Bay.
Beautiful silky fog adding mystery to the soft waves.
As you say a nice change for a wee while from all that fierce bright sun π
…and rain!! One minute, it’s scorching, the next a downpour! At least the plants are getting a watering though. π
I am glad to have discovered your bog because i have always envied people who live on islands or surrounded by the sea. Now I will vicariously follow your watery trail. Great photos!
Hi Vera,
I responded yesterday but see that the comment hasn’t appeared. Strange things happening on WordPress these days! Thank you for visiting and following.
Of course I meant your BLOG !! not bog !!!!!
your posts are interesting. Maybe your other comment will arrive later… the NSA has to read it first….
I know you are liking your blue skies but I think the fog photo is far better and has a great atmosphere, particularly with the small waves made by the boat on the calm sea. MM π£
Thank you, MM. I like the way it looks like a B&W picture with a little splash of red. P
Lovely shots!
Thank you! I know that you get your fair share of fog…!
Hi P I think I had abit of a blank moment after my e mail to you … Poppytump has taken the overnight route to Wildsherkin Lol …
Must have been quite a contrast after all the wonderful weather we’ve been having to see this ! I don’t think I have seen so many pink π happy faces around for awhile with all this sunshine . Do you ever get the chance to go out on a boat around there P ? Mind you … Roaring Water Bay sounds t r i f l e worrying to me Lol
I’m a real landlubber but have been known to be dragged out to sea on the odd occasion! Glad to report that the weather quickly returned to blue….we could get used to this! What a difference it makes. Everyone seems lighter and happier. Long may it last π
Beautiful pictures. I especially like the first one , very quiet and serene. We don’t get many foggy days so it is almost a treat to have that sort of atmosphere.
Isn’t it funny how fog brings a certain silence with it…. π
Beautiful! I love foggy days!
Me too….as long as they don’t last too long! π
sometimes after endless days of sunshine those tones of grey are most welcome! Beautiful photos of what seems an enchanting place!
Thanks Maureen, we’re just not used to waking up every day to blue skies! Long may it last. P π
It was the same in Killarney yesterday, we were packing up to come home after a week glamping, but by evening back in Cork it cleared up. I think the weather is settled for another few weeks to come π
Oooh…glamping in Killarney – how fab! Hope you didn’t get caught up in the gas explosion chaos! π
No,we stayed well away from that area !
You got some great photos – I was hiking near Castletownbere, and the fog lifted about 2 p.m. just as we got to the top of the hill!
Thanks Joan, there must have been some lovely views from the top of the hill. Hope to see them on your blog soon. π
The sun makes all the difference, doesn’t it. π
Unbelievable! There’s a different attitude when the sun shining and it’s amazing how we all take it for granted! Having said that, we are so delighted here in Ireland (and in the UK) as we haven’t had a proper summer in years.
