Wild Sherkin

The storms that have been battering our coastline took their toll on Sherkin Island yesterday. I have just seen this video clip shot by Robbie Murphy. I have posted many pictures of Cow Strand on this blog so some of you may be familiar with this much-loved beach and stretch of road. I never got to Sherkin over the Christmas period and long to be there. I am always only a thought away and my thoughts are with the islanders.
That road is a mess – I think it will take some fixing! Just shows how powerful the ocean can be. I do hope this weather will settle down soon Patsy.
Thanks Anna, the weather seems to be crazy. I was looking at footage of the USA and it’s incredible was is going on there so we we’re not doing too badly really!
I didn’t really mean to like this , but I have got to send it on to my brother,Jim, who loves the Island ! I hope everyone is safe and that paths and destruction can be rebuilt!
Thanks Cath, I am sure there are plenty of skilled wall builders on the island and hopefully, Cork County Council will step up!!
such damage, I was thinking of you when I saw this clip earlier today. it looked like a very angry pot boiling over.
Thanks Joan, it’s scary how powerful the sea can be.
Easy to forget the immense destructive power of the waves battering relentlessly like this P …
These storms recently will be remembered for some time I’m sure . Hope they can fix that road soon !
HI Poppy, one can only hope that the County Council sorts it sooner than later…
Scary stuff.
It’s hard to believe it’s the same beach really.
