Windfalls
Apples, walnuts and the fruits of an arbutus tree (also known as a strawberry tree) act as a little reminder of this lovely and bountiful mild autumn. We had so many apples this year that I placed bags of them on the step outside of our gate in Cork with a note asking passers-by to help themselves. One of my notes went something like this: ‘Free apples…help yourself (may have a worm or two)’. What I didn’t realise is that my daughter had photographed the sign and Tweeted or Snapchatted it, much to the amusement of her friends. So now that it is ‘out there’, and I am already seen as a rather odd mother, I thought I may as well blog about it as well! I’m glad that the apples didn’t go to waste, and you know what, I’ll do it all again next year.
I wish I could have stopped by for an apple. They look so delicious.
Lovely idea, Patsy. What our kids do to/for us!!!!
I do like that photo – perfect autumn colours!
How good is that to have a surplus of fruits .
Walnuts ! You don’t see many of those trees around Patsy – how lovely to have one in your own garden ..and a Strawberry ? tree … you must have a well *established plot 😉
I’m so glad to be back and seeing your posts again x
So glad to have you back, Poppy!
