Let it snow
Last night I must have walked through the back of the wardrobe because this morning I woke up in Narnia. It hardly ever snows in Cork. In fact, I think the last snow we had was in 2010. I know that this was a mere sprinkling – and it had disappeared within a few hours, but I loved every minute of it, from the blush of dawn to my walk down The Marina with Nellie. This evening’s high winds and rain bring Sherkin Island to mind. Our thoughts are with the islanders.
This made me smile – so happy that you enjoyed the sprinkling of snow. I, on the other hand, am very tired of stomping thru knee-high snow to get anywhere on my property. Waiting for the very first signs of spring…
Hoping spring has arrived by now in your part of the world? Sorry for my very belated response….
We are defrosting for the moment – who knows what happens next week? 🙂
Squeak, those shots are gorgeous, Patsy. I just love snow, I feel properly cheated that there wasn’t any here. I just came across one of your comments from last year (playing catch up, yikes!) saying next time I’m down south I should come visit. I would absolutely love to see Sherkin Island through your eyes, so count me in at some point this year! xxx Ailsa
I love that ‘squeak’ at the beginning! How exciting is that .. to have Ailsa on Sherkin Island. We could have a great day out! May/June is a lovely time to visit but anytime really that suits you. P
Fabulous, Patsy, plans are still up in the air right now but I shall give you plenty of advance notice of when I could make it down your way. xxx
oooh, like the snowy seed head P. MM ❄️
Thanks MM. Great to see that you made the most of our little flurry that day. ⛄️
So lovely! No snow here, so I’m glad you shared yours. 🙂
xoxo,
Kathryn
The dawn is beautifully captured! I also love the last two.
Thanks Amy, If only I had looked out of the window a little earlier… but glad I caught it anyway!
Just gorgeous, Patsy. Hope you’re well.
Thanks Jean. Yes, I’m fine.
Beautiful pictures Patsy – I can’t imagine Sherkin under snow! I was there during that 2010 snow. We were selling our house and the pump bringing the water into the house from the well was frozen every morning. The plumber was out about 5 times and I had to drain the radiators before I left. It was the last time I saw the house… Enjoy your snow because you may not have it again for a while!
Island life has its challenges! If you decide to pop back at any time let me know.
I will, without any shadow of a doubt!
great photos Patsy
*whoo hoo* made me smile … oh how lovely Patsy 🙂 Lovely pictures of your garden Narnia world .
Drawing the curtains or pulling the blinds would have been a delight with that dawn blush … we had the same dusting on the Hills …
Not there long enough to build a snowman then 😉
It really is Narnia Patsy! All beautiful, but I do love that seed head loaded with snow.
So pretty… want more? You can have mine!
Your photos are pretty and very Narnia-esque – especially the first one!
Hi Dale, it was a fairly pathetic snowfall but lovely all the same. I imagine the real thing would lose its charm after a while!
I’m one of those funny onesnwho prefers snow to rain in winter… though when stuck in traffic or following snowplows, not so much!
So pretty. Everyone elses snow looks so pretty, ours just looks very white for a very long time.
Lovely pics. I do feel for the people on the west coast. I had to brush off 2 inches of snow from my tunnel roof in case it collapsed and make sure there was nothing loose around my garden that would blow around and cause any damage. It’s suppose to get worse as the night goes on. Stay safe everyone. x
Each image has its own charm. Hope that you enjoyed the momentary winter wonderland.
Thanks Sally, it was great while it lasted.
It just makes everything look so pretty for a while….I love a sprinkle of snow!
All a distant memory now, Seonaid, but I wonder if you still have your winter wonderland?
A little sprinkle is left frozen onto the ice hard earth…it didn’t rise above zero here today!
Beautiful picture!
Thank you!
Just a dusting makes it all look so pretty, any more and everything stops.
So true! Even this light dusting caused traffic chaos this morning.
I love the dawn blush in your first photo Patsy, we now have rain too, Frances
Thanks Frances, the snow was lovely while it lasted.P
